L.L.Bean’s Outdoor Discovery Schools will present three major seminars at the 2010 State of Maine Sportsman’s Show, April 3 and 4 at the Augusta Civic Center.
The first seminar, How to Become a Better Shotgun Shot, Minutes is a brief introduction to shotgun safety and responsible gun handling.
You will learn different ways of leading your target, when to change chokes, and how to choose your shells. You’ll even get some tips for selecting a shotgun and get to handle our L.L.Bean New Englander and Double L side-by-side shotguns.
Keith MacDonald, head wing shooting instructor for L.L.Bean, registered Maine guide, National Sporting Clays level II instructor, former State of Maine skeet champion and outdoorsman, will conduct the seminar.
The second seminar, Learn How to Speak Fish will show you what fish really want. Change the way you look at the water. Learn how to read ponds and streams to enjoy more success on your next trip. Craig Uecker will help you with the fish math. Craig is the head fishing instructor for L.L.Bean, a Federation of Fly Fishers Certified Instructor, spey caster, fly tyer, and fisherman.
The third event takes place outdoors as show-goers have a chance to try the new L.L.Bean Silver Ghost Fly Rods
The L.L.Bean Outdoor Discovery Schools will have a selection of the all-new Silver Ghost Fly Rods, including the Switch Rod model, rigged and ready for you to cast for some elusive Maine Snow Trout.
Get your hands on this new fast-action, lighter- weight fly rod and see what you have been missing. The feel and responsiveness is unparalleled. You may even get a few casting tips from Craig Uecker, to help you reach bigger, better fish.

The Final Charge, an extremely rare taxidermy display of two huge bull moose locked in combat will be on display throughout the State of Maine Sportsman’s Show, April 2-4 at the Augusta Civic Center.
The Final Charge was developed in partnership between the Maine DIF&W and L.L.Bean.
The taxidermy mount, one of only two such mounts in North America, will be on display in a custom-built trailer, specifically made for viewing.
In May of 2006, Adella Johnson found the remains of two Bull Moose on her property in New Sweden. The moose had died after their antlers became locked in battle during the previous fall’s rut. Adella donated the antlers to DIF&W for educational purposes.
DIF&W contacted L.L.Bean with the idea of partnering to bring these moose back to life by recreating their battle and sharing interpretive and educational information about these moose with the general public.
They engaged Nature’s Reflections Taxidermy of Gray, Maine to develop the display. The antlers have never been separated since they first became locked in the fall of 2005.
“For decades, L.L.Bean has maintained a close working relationship with Maine's Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife. The development of this display is yet another facet of our partnership,” said John Oliver, vice president of Public Affairs for L.L.Bean. “It’s entirely fitting for L.L.Bean to come together with the Department to bring to life one of Maine’s most endearing outdoor icons, the moose.”

L.L.Bean firearms experts will be on hand at the 30th Annual State of Maine Sportsman's Show, April 2-4, to buy used long guns on-site.
If you have one gun or a whole collection to sell, stop by the L.L.Bean booth. You can expect top dollar and 100%
satisfaction.
If you can't attend the show call Don at 207-552-7746 to set up an appointment at the L.L.Bean store in Freeport.
